Since 1975, the G.A.L. Gage Company has produced high-quality precision weld measuring gauges that have elevated jobsite efficiency; leading to both an increased level of safety as well as an improved bottom-line ... truly a winning combination!
The videos below further detail G.A.L. Gage products and this commitment to improving jobsite efficiency:
In 1975, Goodwin founded G.A.L. Gage Company on the three pillars of quality, precision and customer service. He saw and met the needs in the welding industry, with a variety of gauges that could be used to accurately measure welds. His company succeeded by introducing innovative and patented products such as our Hi-Lo Gauge, the Adjustable Fillet Weld Gauge, and Gap-A-Let, which revolutionized the piping industry by considerably reducing "fit-up" time for welding purposes.
Having a proper gap between a pipe and a fitting is crucial for a quality socket weld. However, achieving that proper gap takes time, and time, in today's world, is money. It takes time to measure and scribe; time to pull out and scribe again; time to tack in place; time to check the level to make sure the pipe is plumb to the fitting; time to tack again; and finally, time added for inspection to verify the gap distance.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to check weld undercut is with a W.T.P.S. Gauge from GAL Gage company. This gauge comes with a precision ground calibration block.

The Skew-T Fillet Weld Gauge and Calculator can be used to check the inspection dimension of an acute and obtuse dihedral angle weldment as well as the angle of the vertical member.
Ensure the perfect Gap and Fit-Up while minimizing internal misalignment on your pipes with the Stepped Spacing Gap Wedge & Gauge. This one durable precision tool replaces wedges and gap rods and can be used in every industrial pipe fitting scenario.
The Bridge Cam Gauge by GAL GAGE Company is one of our most versatile gauges available. With it, you can perform several different types of measurements of welds in both inches or millimeters.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to check fillet weld leg length and fillet weld throat dimension against weld specifications is with a Fillet Weld Gauge. These gauges come in a variety of sets with sizes ranging from 1/8 of an inch to 3 inch in both inch and metric sizes.
The Hi-Lo Welding Gauge is a multipurpose and versatile gauge. As with many of our gauges, both standard and metric units of measurement are available directly on the gauge for dimensional verification.
The V-WAC Single Weld Gauge, available in fractional, decimal and metric increments, is a tool which allows you to perform several different types of measurements and to compare weld defects.
The adjustable fillet weld gauge was designed so that just one gauge could be used to check 15 different sizes of fillet welds, equal or unequal in size.
The Flange Fit-Up & Inspection Gauge was designed to streamline the inspection process for flanges that range between 150 pounds to 1200 pounds. This tool can only be used for spiral wound gaskets - not for lap joint flange connections.
